The associations of beekeepers ‘Roj’ and ‘Propolis’ operating in the area of the Jajce Municipality were given equipment for the production of hourly bases and honey fillers, thus officially opening the Jajce Beekeeping Center.
The Beekeeping Center was opened within the project ‘Sustainable beekeeping for marginalized families and rural population’, implemented by the Jajce Municipality and the Muslim Aid Association Sarajevo.
The value of the project is 130,000 BAM, and it includes 11 beekeepers and two associations. It will be implemented over two years with an emphasis on novice beekeepers and developing beekeepers (per user 10 bee societies with all equipment for beekeeping).
In the first year, the first packages of equipment and bees were handed over, and trainings in the field of beekeeping were organized. The handover of machines for wax processing and filling and packaging of honey to the associations of beekeepers ‘Roj’ and ‘Propolis’, which operate in the Jajce Municipality, aims to technically and technologically strengthen these associations.
The director of the Muslim Aid Association, Edina Šehić-Salija, thanked the Jajce Municipality, the beekeepers who benefited from the project and the beekeepers’ associations from the Jajce area for their cooperation, with a wish that this kind of cooperation continues in the future.
“In the continuation of this project, next year, with the awarding of the remaining equipment packages and bees, it is planned to create recognizable packaging in the process of branding honey from the Jajce Municipality, organize and participate in fairs where the work and products of beekeepers will be presented“, it was announced from the Jajce Municipality.
In the area of Jajce, more than 100 beekeepers with more than 4,000 hives have been registered, who are entitled to municipal incentives for the development of beekeeping.
This year, due to the extremely difficult period for beekeeping, the Jajce Municipality additionally provided financial support to beekeepers who reported damage and losses.
