Peripheral municipalities in Tuzla Canton do not have an alternative electricity supply

The peripheral municipalities of Tuzla Canton Sapna and Teočak are one of the few in Bosnia and Herzegovina that do not have an alternative transformer station for electricity supply in case of malfunction on the transformer station Dubrave, from where these municipalities are supplied.

This is the reason why in the middle of the storm, the citizens of these two municipalities are left without electricity for up to 15 hours.

This problem in Sapna and Teočak has been known since 1996, but nothing has been done on solving this issue so far.

Representative of the Elektroprivreda BiH, told to Fena that alternative power supply can be performed by building a new transformer station Kalesija, and renovate the entire transmission line Dubrave – Zvornik, which would provide two-way power supply and transformer station Sapna.

However, as they point out, these problems are within the competence of the Elektroprijenos BiH a.d. Banja Luka, Tuzla Operational Area, which has been planning to build the transformer station since the end of the war.

Company Elektroprijenos BiH a.d. Banja Luka, Tuzla Operational Area, has not yet implemented this activity, due to unresolved property and legal issues for the route of the future line entry – exit to the transformer station Kalesija.

As citizens entered 2018 without electricity, the convocation of the Municipal Council of Sapna and Mayor Zudin Mahmutović held an extraordinary session and expressed their indignation with frequent unannounced and unplanned power outages in the municipality of Sapna, especially during the holidays.

Also, at that time, the mayor criticized JP Elektroprivreda BiH, because they did not eliminate the malfunction in the optimal time and did not find it appropriate to send at least an apology and explanation to people living Sapna and Teočak for unannounced power outage, since the local government has no authority over the electricity sector.

The chairman of the Sapna Municipal Council, Sabit Brđak, points out that he is not aware of whether this issue has ever been raised, and that one of his priorities is to raise the issue of alternative electricity voltage.

At one of the next sessions, I will raise this issue, and I hope I will get an answer as to what it is and whether anything has been done about it“, said Brđak for Fena.
