Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina marks the International Museum Day

Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina marks the International Museum Day each year and joins the international family of museums that celebrate heritage and museum stories. The pandemic has changed the emerging reality – so the world of museums in 2021 is in the process of questioning and reflection. This year, Museum Day is marked under the theme “The Future of Museums: Recovery and Rethinking”.

The team of the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina has prepared a program that follows this year’s theme of the Museum Day, and is based on presenting optimistic stories from the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina about social recovery and progress. Thus, museum visitors will be introduced to the newly opened exhibitions “Awakening of Solidarity” and “Every day we make in every way? – Bosnian cinematography from 1947 to 1992.” The settings will be interpreted through workshops, curatorial guides and lectures, which will be held from 10:00hrs to 21:00hrs. This year, the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina presents stories about the renewal of Bosnian society through history, with the aim of using examples from the past to help change the present. The program of the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina under the slogan “Every day we make in every way?” shows how important it is to redefine museums together – in order for museums to become educational institutions in the service of social progress. Although the museum will not be open until midnight, as it has been the case in all previous years, the museum’s stories will be fully accessible to visitors.

Entrance to the museum will be possible in compliance with the epidemiological measures required by the current epidemiological situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A large number of activities will take place in the outdoor space of the museum. Entrance to all activities is free.
