Free health insurance for economically disadvantaged persons

The Minister of Labor, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of Sarajevo Canton, Mrs. Ivana Prvulović, and the Head of the Department for Social Protection, Child Protection and Protection of Families with Children, Mrs. Cica Pljevljak met yesterday with representatives of the informal network of Health Insurance for All in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mrs. Mirsada Bajramović, representative of the Association Zemlja djece u BiH and Mrs. Emina Trnka, representative of the Institute for Youth Development KULT, to discuss the possibilities of changing and refining legal regulations, which would enable all economically disadvantaged persons in the Sarajevo Canton to have free health insurance.

During the meeting, the participants specifically analyzed the Initiative for amendment of the Law on Social Protection, Protection of Civilian Victims of War and Protection of Families with Children in Sarajevo Canton, created by members of the network.

The Minister showed great interest in the proposed changes as well as cooperation of the Ministry with the network in their future work, especially cooperating on the topic of solving the problems of persons who do not have health insurance in the area of ​​Sarajevo Canton.

The project is implemented with the financial support of the Government of the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg and the program “Hilfe fuer Osteuropa” (Assistance for Eastern Europe) of the organization “Diakonisches Werk Wuerttemberg” from Germany, the Association Pharos e.V. in partnership with the Institute for Youth Development KULT, Roma Association “EURO ROM” Tuzla, Association “Zemlja djece u Bosni i Herzegovini” Tuzla, Roma Support Center “Romalen” Kakanj and the Public Health Institute of Tuzla Canton.
