Enjoy natural beauties of Bosnia and Herzegovina: Sanski Most among the most visited destinations

Pandemic still makes it difficult to travel outside the borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which opens the opportunity to continue exploring the beauties of our country.

The ideal solution for escaping from city noise, having in mind new conditions and the pandemic, is to visit nature parks or the mountains. The pandemic, although it prevented foreign tourists visiting our country, brought a large number of new domestic visitors who rushed to the mountains and resorts in search of content that will bring a kind of balance to everyday life significantly disturbed by restrictive measures.

Tourist worker Adnan Subašić suggested several destinations, which are not so attractive, and are definitely worth a visit. In his opinion, if you love nature, rivers, lakes, mountains and beautiful scenery, these suggestions will certainly live up to expectations.

Near Sanski Most, between the villages of Gornji Kamengrad and Fajtovci, hides the enchanting waterfall Blihe, on the river of the same name, and is also on the list of Subašić’s proposals.

The waterfall known as Blihin skok is one of the most picturesque in our country. Arriving at the waterfall itself requires a fifteen-minute walk, but the magnificent sight is worth every step.

“Blihe Waterfall, Sanski Most, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” he said.

Also, Subašić suggested another place located near Sanski Most, and it is Dabarsko vrelo.

“Dabarsko vrelo is located 10 km from the center of Sanski Most. One part of the road is macadam, but it can be approached by car. It takes about five minutes to walk to Vrelo along the marked path. An impressive natural phenomenon where the water from vertical rocks erupts in large quantities to the surface so that from the very beginning it forms a strong river”, he stated.

Blihin skok is a natural landmark of Krajina and is protected as a natural monument. The sight of water breaking and falling down a hilly rock is beautiful and leaves every visitor breathless.

It breaks down a rock about 56 meters high, creating a supernatural natural beauty. The waterfall has scientific and tourist-recreational value. Blihin Vodopad Nature Park, which covers a wider area of this locality, covers an area of 50 square kilometers and covers a wide range of offers that can be presented to both domestic and foreign tourists. A special phenomenon is that such a small river gives rise to such a high waterfall, which then forms a small lake.

Žukovica waterfall

Žukovica Waterfall is located in Zagorje (Posušje), a place that enchants with its beauty, untouched nature. Right next to the waterfall is the Žukovička cave, and this area will amaze everyone.

Koćuša Waterfall

The timid rivers are the pearl of Herzegovina, and most of us enjoyed the banks of the Neretva, Buna, Bregava, Trebišnjica, but also Trebižat. One of the most impressive waterfalls in our country – Kravica waterfall, is located on Trebižat. However, apart from the well-known Kravica, this Herzegovinian river hides, although smaller, certainly not less beautiful waterfalls such as Koćuša and Čeveljuša.

Koćuša Waterfall is located in the village of Veljaci in the municipality of Ljubuški and is one of the most beautiful natural pearls of this part of Herzegovina. The beauty of this waterfall and the nearby landscape will not leave you indifferent.

The height of the waterfall is five and the length is 50 meters. In the immediate vicinity there are mills that have adorned this place for years.

Turovi Kazani on Željeznica

One not so famous picnic area near Sarajevo called Turovi, which is located not far from Trnovo, on the main road to the mountain Treskavica. In the immediate vicinity of the village there is a natural phenomenon Kazani, a rock through which the river Željeznica made stone cauldrons and flowing from the cauldron into the cauldron made a bed for itself.

A picnic area was built on the site of Turovi Kazan, which is extremely attractive to visitors due to the proximity of the capital Sarajevo. In addition to the unique nature that you can find in Kazani, here you can also visit the picnic area which contains benches and tables.

Waterfall on Žepa

A place worth visiting is the Waterfall on the Žepa River, i.e., the place where the river Žepa flows into the Drina River.

“The waterfall on Žepa is located about four kilometers from the center of Žepa. Here the Žepa River flows into the Drina River. The hidden pearl is one of the most beautiful natural phenomena in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We offer boat rides, and the road to this beautiful gem is completely paved,” he added.

Bridge Ovčiji brod

Considering that our country preserves many buildings from the Ottoman period, such as the magnificent Old Bridge in Mostar and the Višegrad Bridge of Mehmed-paša Sokolović, it is expected that there are some forgotten bridges, such as the bridge Ovčiji brod near Nevesinje.

“The sheep boat is a bridge over the river Zalomka, which is located in the village Bratač, 15 km from Nevesinje. The bridge is a masterpiece of architecture built by the Ottomans in the 16th century, and today it is a National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, said Subašić, adding that the old bridge on the river Šujica known as the Roman bridge should definitely be visited.

Lake Nula near Vareš

Among the numerous localities he recommends, Subašić mentions Lake Nula near Vareš. Numerous enthusiasts of the Vareš region are trying to make the lake an attractive tourist destination, which mainly serves the locals for swimming during hot summer days.

“Lake Nula near Vareš is the largest drinking water well in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The lake is not natural and was created 30 years ago on the surface of the former “Smreka” mine”, he said.

Young people who love nature, but also cultural and historical monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina mention several other interesting sites such as Vrelo Bunice near Blagaj, Ilomska waterfall near Skender Vakuf, viewpoint on Žlijeb five kilometers from the village of Diva Grabovica on Čvrsnica, as well as Bobijaško not far from Sanski Most.
